How It Works About For Restaurants

Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 8, 2025

1. Introduction

Choose Takeaway (operated by ServeLogic) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our platform.

Important Distinction: Unlike traditional food delivery platforms, Choose Takeaway does not collect, store, or control customer ordering and account data. When you place an order through our platform, your personal information (name, address, phone number, order details) goes directly to the Restaurant Partner. The Restaurant Partner is the data controller for this information.

This Privacy Policy covers only the limited data we collect for website operation (cookies, analytics, and technical data). For information about how your ordering data is handled, please contact the Restaurant Partner directly.

We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 for the data we do process.

2. Information We Collect

What We DON'T Collect:

Choose Takeaway does not collect or store:

  • Customer names, email addresses, or phone numbers used for orders
  • Delivery addresses or location data from orders
  • Payment card details
  • Order history or food preferences
  • Customer account credentials

This information is collected and controlled directly by Restaurant Partners.

2.1 Website Usage Data We Collect

We collect limited technical data to operate and improve our website:

  • Device Information: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers
  • Usage Data: Pages visited, time spent on pages, clickstream data, search queries
  • Approximate Location: General location based on IP address (for showing nearby restaurants)
  • Cookies: Technical cookies for website functionality (see our Cookie Policy)

2.2 Restaurant Partner Data

If you are a Restaurant Partner, we collect business information necessary to provide our platform services (business name, contact details, menu information). This is covered under separate Restaurant Partner agreements.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited technical data we collect for:

3.1 Platform Operation

  • Displaying relevant restaurants based on your location search
  • Facilitating the connection between you and Restaurant Partners
  • Maintaining website functionality and security
  • Preventing fraud and abuse of our platform

3.2 Service Improvement

  • Analyzing website usage patterns to improve functionality
  • Testing and troubleshooting technical issues
  • Developing new features
  • Understanding which restaurants are most searched

3.3 Legal Compliance

  • Complying with legal obligations
  • Protecting our rights and property
  • Enforcing our Terms and Conditions

Note: Order processing, customer communications, and payment handling are managed directly between you and the Restaurant Partner. We do not have access to this information.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process the limited technical data we collect based on:

  • Legitimate Interests: Operating our website, preventing fraud, improving our platform
  • Consent: Using optional analytics cookies (you can opt out via cookie preferences)
  • Legal Obligation: Complying with legal requirements where applicable

For order and account data, the Restaurant Partner is the data controller and processes your information based on their contract with you.

5. Sharing Your Information

5.1 Restaurant Partners

When you use our platform to place an order, you are providing your information directly to the Restaurant Partner. We act as a technology facilitator - the data flows from you to the restaurant, not through our systems.

5.2 Service Providers

We share limited technical data with trusted service providers who help operate our website:

  • Cloud Hosting: To host our website infrastructure
  • Analytics Providers: To analyze website traffic (e.g., Google Analytics - anonymized)

These providers are bound by data protection agreements and only process data on our behalf.

5.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government regulation, or to protect our rights and safety.

5.4 Business Transfers

If ServeLogic is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, website usage data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data:

  • Encryption of data in transit (SSL/TLS)
  • Secure password storage (hashing and salting)
  • Regular security assessments
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Secure cloud infrastructure

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain website usage data for the following periods:

  • Technical/Analytics Data: Up to 26 months (Google Analytics default)
  • Server Logs: Up to 90 days for security purposes
  • Cookie Data: As specified in our Cookie Policy

Customer Order Data: This is not retained by Choose Takeaway. Restaurant Partners determine their own retention policies for customer information. Please contact the Restaurant Partner directly for information about how long they retain your data.

8. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have rights regarding your personal data. However, the scope of these rights depends on who controls your data:

For the limited technical data we collect, you have the right to:

  • Right to Rectification - Correct inaccurate information
  • Right to Erasure - Request account deletion

If you wish to opt out of restaurant marketing communications, please contact the Restaurant Partner directly or use their unsubscribe options.
